About the Business
Wool and Bovington Motors Ltd was founded in 1950 By Major W R S Pyne and his son Robert, at the end of their military careers, the father and son team wished to utilise their engineering skills learned in the R.E.M.E. and so began Wool and Bovington Motors.
From the most humble beginnings of a tiny wooden shed and three petrol pumps which at the time were themselves twenty years old. Both Major Pyne and his son were determined to make the very best job that they could and offer reliable engineering services to what at the time was little more than a farming community.
After three years they took on their first agency for Standard Triumph offering the "Standard Eight" at a very reasonable price of only 400 Pounds! The business continued to grow from strength to strength and in 1957 took on the Hillman agency offering the series one Hillman Minx a very modern car for its time. Further development work took place and in 1962 they were appointed Ford Agents for the Purbeck area.
